Starting Points - 8th & 9th Grade

This class is designed for students who wish to build a basic Biblical worldview. It is based on the work of
David Quine and the Cornerstone Curriculum. The primary source for this class is the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments. Additional source materials include Know What You Believe and Know Why You Believe by Paul Little, Answers for Difficult Days by David Quine, Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis, and more.

Topics will be covered such as the nature of God, the nature of the universe, the essential nature of man, the basis of morality and ethics, the cause of evil and suffering, what happens to man at death, and the meaning of history. Examining, evaluating, and embracing represent the focus of Starting Points and will help the student develop a Biblical framework for their life.

This is a weekly one hour class.  The suggested age group for this class is 12-16 years of age. Cost is $50.00 per month.


Apologetics/Debate

This course is designed to give the students intellectual and spiritual tools in how to defend their faith in the midst of a pluralistic and amoral culture. Major belief systems will be examined such as atheism, agnosticism, mysticism, post modernism and others. Source materials will include the Scriptures and books by Josh McDowell and Norman Geisler.

The format of the class will be a combination of both lectures and class discussion. Other learning modules will involve the student defending what he or she believes as a Christian against other belief systems through 'speeches and debates in class'. Progress in the class will be measured by participation in class discussions, periodic testing, and brief oral and written presentations.

This is a weekly one hour class with a cost of $50.00 per month.
Worldview Year One -  Expanded 3 hour class

This is a three hour class which is different from the normal two hour class also offered for this curriculum. The 3 hour class will enable more the students to study more of the academic disciplines presented in the curriculum. It will also enable more class discussion on homework assignments. In addition to this we will be able to participate in some special projects related to the curriculum. This is the first year of a comprehensive classical high school study that is designed to help the student to develop a Christian worldview through course work in various academic disciplines.

The curriculum has two tracks of study. Both tracks cover the historical periods of Ancient Rome through the Middle Ages. One track is a Biblical Worldview section. Attention is given to the study of Scripture as well as the writings of Frances and Edith Schaeffer along with other great classical theologians such as Augustine and Thomas Aquinas. 

The second track of study deals with the Greco-Roman period. In this study consideration is given to classical literature such as The Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer, The Republic by Plato, audio tapes with the teachings of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Partial or full credit is given for the following subjects for this first year: Composition I, Ancient Literature, Philosophy/Religion, Music History/Appreciation I, Art History/Appreciation I, Western Civilization, Humanities, and World History.

Worldviews of the Western World  (Comprehensive and Classical High School Curriculum)
Worldview Year One

This is the first year of a comprehensive classical high school study that is designed to help the student to develop a Christian worldview through course work in various academic disciplines.

The curriculum has two tracks of study. Both tracks cover the historical periods of Ancient Rome through the Middle Ages. One track is a Biblical Worldview section. Worldview Year Two

This second year of study of the Cornerstone Curriculum developed by
David Quine of the Cornerstone Curriculum begins with the Renaissance period and continues with the Reformation, the Revolutionary Age up to the rise of modern science. It continues with the same basic theme of developing a solid, conservative Christian worldview in the student's life. Some of the authors that will be read include Martin Luther, John Calvin, Dante, Milton, William Shakespeare, John Bunyan, John Locke, Thomas Paine, and Frances Schaeffer. Various video and audio recordings will be used as well.

Partial or full credit will be earned in the following courses: Composition II, Medieval Literature, American History, American Government, Political Theory, Science History I, Art and Music History/Appreciation, Humanities, World History, and Western Civilization. This is a weekly two hour class. The suggested age group for this class is grades 9-12. Cost is $60.00 per month.


Worldview Year Three

In the third year of this three year classical education study of the
Cornerstone Curriculum written by David Quine of the Cornerstone Curriculum, the student will study the various philosophical belief systems of the 19th and 20th century all the way up the current postmodernism of our day and how these differ from Christianity and the effect they have had on Western culture.

Trends will be observed in art, literature, and music as well as politics, economics, sociology, and religion. Some of the material that will be covered includes the works of Frances Schaeffer, Josh McDowell, John Whitehead and Philip Johnson. Other writers will include Camus, Hemingway, and Skinner. Credits received in this year's study will be in American History, Humanities, World History, Economic Theory, Philosophy and more. This study will further enable the student to become established and solid in a conservative Bible based Christian world view.
